Back in the Northeast, I now reflect on the time spent at home in Alaska this winter break. It was a beautiful winter – bitter cold, deep snow, soft winter light. I skied nearly every day, from meandering trudges through mountain valleys to energetic sprints around the race trails of my childhood. There was good food and family time, deep sleep, nothing stressful to do. Coffee all the time, snow skirts and parkas, hand warmers in our pockets. Sea ice that drifted quietly with the changing tides.

About whereisacacia
I´m Acacia, born and raised in Alaska, but then I lived in Norway for a year, by which I am strongly influenced. After that I lived in Switzerland and now study photography at Rhode Island School of Design. I strive to live a life of considerable excitement, spontaneity and adventure, or in Flickr´s terms, interestingness. I take photos all the time when I´m not at home, and my Flickr site then becomes a more visually detailed description of my current life. I´m kind of all over the place.
Those are some great shots of the winter and your family; you can never go wrong with that. There are so many amazing things, on this planet, we just have to open up to it.Great post and I look forward to sharing more with you:))
Very cool pics. I lived there as a child, but remember nothing. These pictures really capture the solidarity and compassion of a small town.
I miss Alaska…
