The unbearable heat of the tropics

Like many other Alaskans, we enjoy escaping the darkness in the dead of winter.  This December brought us to Hawaii, where the stream of incoming Alaska Airlines flights never ends and even the tourists in brochures sport Alaska Grown sweatshirts.  The bond between our frozen home and these volcanic islands in the Pacific is a strange one, probably due mostly to our collective distance (both culturally and geographically) from The Lower Forty-Eight.  It’s a good deal.  If you let us come remember what Vitamin D feels like, you’re welcome to come look at some glaciers anytime you like…
