Sunsets at Smith Rock

Smith Rock is, without question, the most beautiful part of Oregon I have experienced.  We drove there twice while I was visiting – the first time to get a little bit of climbing in before the sun set, and the second, to hike Misery Ridge at dusk.   Both times, the evening air stood perfectly still, sweet with the lingering scents of pine and desert sage, the whole landscape surreal in its dreamlike silence and majesty.  The sun slowly sank below the brilliant spires of red rock, turning them to silhouettes before the whole sky was blanketed in stars.

Thanks everyone for the Freshly Pressed feedback! It was a wonderful surprise and absolutely made my day. Be sure to check back for more adventures!
