Pretending It’s Summer

Last weekend in Bar Harbor was so glorious.  I shot it in 35mm color film and got it developed at a cheap 1-hour place; I love the film grain and how the dust and scratches make it feel old.  Here are some of the scanned negatives, documents of the place that’s been one of the highlights of my life in New England.  It wasn’t that warm, but it was warmer than it had been, and we pretended it was summer.

The community kitchen in Zach’s dorm building.  Stuff everywhere, usually a total mess, but beautiful natural light.

Lunch at the same Thai restaurant that we always go to.  There weren’t many places open in Bar Harbor this winter, and this one was a favorite.

Late afternoon hiking- on Flying Mountain in Southwest Harbor.

Best part of the whole day – a spontaneous plunge into the water at Sand Beach during a precious moment of warm sunshine.

Afterwards, about to hurry back to the warm car.
